Head down to the Chittenden Locks this week, it's PUMP-OUT TIME!
The large lock has been drained for its annual inspection and maintenance. All the water has been pumped out so workers can inspect the valves, gates, etc.- and pick up the cell phones, cameras, whatever, that have gone overboard during the year. You can see the floor of the lock 55 feet down, the valves where the water goes in and out, and the crows and gulls feasting on the barnacles that have just been uncovered.

We were very fortunate to have had a tour of the facilities today. A fantastic view of the locks behind the scenes (or under the water). Thanks again to Drew, Brian and Michelle for making it happen.
